Constitution
Preamble
It had been felt for a long time that the Saraswat Brahmin community of India, which is scattered in various States and which derives its name from ancient home in Aryavarta, should be united and consolidated for its own good and for that of the nation. In this connection, some Gowd Saraswat and other Saraswat Brahmin representing certain local organizations met in Mumbai in 1971 and decided to convene an All India Saraswat Cultural Convention.
An ad hoc Preparatory Committee was formed. Due to the then prevalent war like situation the convention was indefinitely postponed. It was decided however to form the permanent organization which would hold the convention at the proper time and would meanwhile initiate the work of Saraswat consolidation in the national interest.
