Saraswat Prakashan
Objective:
To act as a conduit for communication among all Saraswat Brahmans and Saraswat Institutes going beyond sub-sects and regions; fostering exchange of culture and thoughts to develop unity and inter personal co-operation; thereby achieve progress and well - being of all Saraswats.
History:
It was around August-September, 1985, when three young men got around to discussing the lack of an appropriate medium to showcase and publicize the various efforts undertaken by different institutions of the Saraswat community that would reach out tocity folk and villagers alike. Thus, was born Saraswat Chaitanya a quarterly magazine, which was the brainchild of these three young men, viz, Mr. Pramod Yashwat Tendulkar, Mr.Sudhakar Vasant Lotlikar and Mr. Vikas Chandrakant
Sinkar, who are the founder members of the Saraswat Prakashan.
Once the idea of Saraswat Chaitanya had taken on a solid shape it was placed before the famed literary Mr. Dattatray Vishnu Tendulkar alias Kavi Prafulldatta who accepted the position of the editor. The primary and printing expenses were borne by Mr. Pramod Tendulkar, Mr. Sudhakar Lotlikar, Mr. Vikas Sinkar, Mr.Sumankumar Diwadkar and Mr. Shashikant Zarapkar. The famed author Mr. Madhu Mangesh Karnik unveiled the first issue of the Saraswat Chaitanya on the auspicious day of Gudhi Padva on 10th April, 1986. This function was also graced by many well-known dignitaries of the Saraswat community. Mr. Prafulldatta passed away within a year of being the edlitor of the magazine and Mr. Ravindra Patkar assumed the position of the editor thereafter. After demise of Mr. Ravindra Patkar in 2010, Mr. Pramod Tendulkar and Mr. Sudhakar Lotlikar filled in the position of the Editor and Executive Editor respectively.
The Saraswat Prakashan functions independently and is not influenced by any communal institution or trust. The Sanstha receives help, directly or indirectly, from many of its well-wishers whose names are often mentioned in the Saraswat Chaitanya. The Sanstha without any interruption since 1986 publishes Saraswat Chaitanya magazine on a quarterly basis.
Since 2001, the Sanstha is organizing the Saraswat Chaitanya Gaurav Sohala where in the achievers from different arenas are felicitated.
